Tastes of Meaford Bus Tour August 20th!

The Meaford Farmers’ Market is pleased to announce the first Annual ‘Tastes of Meaford’ bus tour, which will take place on Saturday, August 20th from 1 pm to 5:30 pm.

Stops on the tour will include Barbetta Orchards, The Barn Co-operative, Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery, Sunrise Organics Farm, and Wolf River Farm.

At each stop, you will learn about these food destinations in the Municipality of Meaford and taste of some of what local food producers have to offer.

Tickets for the bus tour are free, with cash and non-perishable food donations being welcomed for the Golden Town Outreach Food Bank, and are available at the Meaford Farmers’ Market, Many Hands of Meaford, and The Barn Co-operative.

Those who are part of the tour are asked to be at the Meaford Harbour Pavilion at 12:45 pm to board the buses. The buses will return to the Meaford Harbour Pavilion by 5:30 pm.

The Meaford Farmers’ Market had a Market Chef this season to help feature the produce of out vendors. Erin Shepherd was at the market for 16 weeks this season, creating tasty and healthy food choices, and giving out free samples and free instructions to our many market patrons. Many thanks to Erin from all of us at the market – both vendors and patrons – as she helped to make this market season one of the best ever with her delicious, inspiring and inventive cooking!

The Browns Music Time Machine Show will be back to bless us with beautiful music!

Master Gardener, Jackie Campbell, will be present to answer all your gardening questions!

Meaford Public Library staff will be present under the Library Tent with stories, songs and activities for kids. Special guest, Market Manager Jaden Calvert, will be reading a story at 4pm. Learn about a favourite book of a community member as part of the Fresh Picks!

Market Chef Erin will be dazzling us with more delicious dishes.

Meaford Farmers’ Market Opening June 5th!

The Meaford Farmers’ Market is back for another season!! Come join over 35 vendors this Friday June 5th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Meaford Harbor in the Harbour Pavilion.

There will be live music by The Browns and the official opening by the mayor. Our vendors will be offering fresh produce – spinach, lettuce, asparagus, rhubarb, radishes and other seasonal products. There will be herb plants, honey, maple syrup, preserves, bread, baking, teas, pork, lamb, fresh fish, sheep’s milk cheese and other products, apples, planters, and a great variety of hand crafted items such as soaps, oils and lotions, woodworking, knitting, ceramics, stoneware, teddy bears, art work, clothing and jewellery.

Come shop local and join the fun at the Meaford Harbour this Friday and every Friday until Thanksgiving.

Meaford Farmers’ Market Gearing up for its 9th Season!

The Meaford Farmers’ Market is proud to be gearing up for its ninth season and will be held again at the Meaford Harbour Pavilion on Friday afternoons!

President, Marion Boyd, states “we are very excited to have more vendors than ever this year – over 40 different farmers, producers and artisans will be coming with a wide variety of produce and products to be offered. Of course you will be able to get a wonderful array of fresh fruits and vegetables in, but we also have many local artisans offering their wares. There will be ceramics, stoneware, handmade soaps and candles, local VQA wines, woodwork, clothing, artwork, preserves, baking, breads, honey, plants, flowers and much more. We will again have fresh fish as well as locally-raised lamb, pork and other meats. Among our new vendors this year is a farmer offering sheep’s milk products such as cheese and yogurt.”

Local musical entertainment will be offered every week, as well as other various activities throughout the season.

Starting in July, we will again be featuring a market chef, offering delectable food items created from our own locally- grown produce.

So come join the fun at the Meaford Farmers’ Market. The grand opening day is June 5, 2015, and the market will continue every Friday afternoon until Thanksgiving, running from 3 to 7 p.m. Follow the signs to the Meaford Harbour Pavilion, off of Trowbridge Street in beautiful downtown Meaford.

Meaford Christmas Markets November 29th & December 6th!

Following the great success of the last three Christmas Markets, the Meaford Farmer’s Market is holding their fourth annual Christmas Market at the Meaford Hall. The Christmas Market will be held on Saturday November 29th & December 6th from Noon to 4 pm.

There will be over twenty local artisans featured, offering a huge variety of beautiful handcrafted products and local produce, including children’s books, apples, honey and maple syrup, baking, fudge, coffee, preserves, knitted products, jewellery, soaps, lotions, ceramics, wreaths and much more.

Organizers say that there will be that “perfect something” for everyone on your holiday shopping list!
